Hi all you Beautiful Dancers!!!
I am happy to discover this tribe.
I LOVE the FIVE RHYTHMS!!!!
Dancing at my weekly 5 Rhythms class is the main space of time in every week when I truly feel like me. When I am dancing I feel like I know what is *truth,* I feel FREE, and able to completely express myself.
My wish is that the way I feel when I am dancing the wave, can also be the way I feel in the rest of my life... I just love my self, my life, and being alive, while I am dancing... the rest of the time it is more of a challenge to know and express myself...
Anyone have that experience... of noticing that they do apply the freedom/feeling of dancing into the rest of their day to day life? Or noticing a deep and grounded connection with self and life when dancing, and long to experience that off the dancefloor too?

: )
i have been dancing at my five rhythms class on a regular, weekly basis for a couple of months. i desperately need it at this time in my life to keep me stable and balanced. i love it!
it isn't always easy to show up and dance the rhythms, but if i don't, i know i'll feel shitty at work the next day, and even if i am sad at the end of the dance, its always worth going and just 'showing up'...
Hooray for Gabrielle and our fabulous teachers! i love you! -

Re: On & Off the Dancefloor...
Tue, May 16, 2006 - 10:22 AMI totally agree with both of you. I really feel "on top of my game" while dancing the rhythms. And it is hard for me to integrate this practice into my daily life. Sometimes I feel like I am in NO rhythm at all, just unconscious, not totally alive. Especially having chosen a job in which I'm sitting all day, it is hard to bring awareness to my body at times.
I make a commitment to dance every Tuesday in NY regardless of how happy or miserable I feel, because I always feel transformed afterwards. Yes, I do often feel sad or disconnected, but other times I feel elated and part of community -- most important, I am FEELING , and even if my feelings are raw, they are better than not feeling at all.
(Unfortunately tonight I won't be dancing because I've been under the weather all week and I need to conserve my energy.) -
