Do you ever feel you got hit by a Mack truck a day or two after dancing the rhythms? I last danced Tuesday and this morning my whole body has been tight and achy.
I wonder sometimes if I put too much into my dancing -- I don't really dance *moderately* -- but FR is the only place I don't have to hold back, so why do so there too?
Maybe I'm just getting old.
Or perhaps I *process* so much on a somatic level that my body just has to detox whatever crap I've been holding in.

Re: My whole body hurts
Fri, October 6, 2006 - 12:10 PMJeff,
*LOL* This happens to me all of the time! I can not seem to hold back and respect my poor old gymnasts knees and back. Feel fine while dancing over the edge then pay the price afterward. AT least when I am in CA at Harbin I can soak it all out in the hot springs. A friend helped me years ago to soften my joints when moving and that helped to a small degree...
Namaste,

Re: My whole body hurts
Mon, July 16, 2007 - 2:50 PMI'm fairly new to 5 Rhythms Dance and although I think it is a fantastic movement practice, one thing I have noticed about the sessions I have been to unlike most other types of dance class is that there is not a cool down process of stretching at the end. Stillness is very powerful energetically but unfortunately it does not really help muscles optimally recover from the work they have been doing. Doing stretches helps reduce muscle soreness after exercise, so you may want to try doing some stretches after finishing a session. Also drinking plenty of fluid helps your body to flush away toxins that may be released from tissues in exercise and rehydrate your body from all the fluid you have probably lost through sweat during the session. I hope this might be helpful to folk who are suffering after sessions.
Regards,
Anne
